He was also named to the California Community College State All Star team.

He played 2 summer seasons for the Sanford Mainers in the New England Collegiate Baseball League and was selected the starting catcher for the 2007 NECBL All Star game. In 2007, he led the NECBL in throwing runners out with 17 and led his team in HR.

Bubba went on to play at San Diego State under Head Coach and MLB Hall of Famer, Tony Gwynn. Bubba batted .291 overall and .333 in conference for the Aztecs. Unfortunately, due to a shoulder injury, Bubba was placed on a permanent medical red shirt list. Before signing to play at SDSU, Bubba was also recruited by Boston College, Wake Forest, Coastal Carolina, and the University of Maryland.

Bubba has been fortunate to have been instructed by a Major League catching coach, Mike Mayne. He also received hitting instruction from MLB All Star Shawn Green and Tim Wallach. Being a catcher all of his life, Bubba brings extra insight of the game of baseball to the Brickyard Cages staff and is looking forward to instructing future baseball stars.

Joey Centanni (General Manager/Baseball Pitching, Hitting)

joey@brickyardcages.com

Joey began playing baseball at a very young age. Having an older brother - Louie - Joey was extremely fortunate to have someone to look up to and challenge him. They grew up together playing thousands of wiffle ball games in front of their home in San Diego, CA. Joey was two years younger than Louie, and in 2003, they were a part of the Division III San Diego CIF-Championship Uni Dons baseball team. Joey and his team went on to win another CIF title in 2005 during his senior season at the University of San Diego High School.

Joey played Division I baseball at the University of the Pacific under head coach Ed Sprague. Sprague definitely had the credentials, as he is the only athlete ever to have won a College World Series (while attending Stanford), a Gold Medal at the 1988 Olympics, and 2-World Series with the Toronto Blue Jays in the early 90 s. Under Ed Sprague, Joey learned how to compose oneself in a professional manner. Centanni was a 2-time All-Big West selection at Pacific where he pitched, played outfield, and first base. After college baseball, Joey went on to play professionally for the Baltimore Orioles. In his only season before retiring, Centanni led the Gulf Coast League in strikeouts per 9 innings.

Joey was a well-rounded player with extensive knowledge on the history of the game, rules, psychology, and overall technique. He has a number of years of experience giving lessons and working camps & clinics. He has had great coaching throughout his life and is now excited to bring his passion for the game and coaching to The Brickyard Cages.

Ryan Wiegand (Baseball Hitting)

ryan@brickyardcages.com

Ryan has played baseball locally since the age of 4. He helped lead his teams to two CIF championships during the 2003 and 2005 seasons. He was named to All-Western League and Division III teams. Ryan will be the Head JV Coach at Cathedral Catholic this upcoming Spring.

As Ryan got older, he went on to play his collegiate ball at Gonzaga University. He was a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. He was also named to the WCC All-Freshman Team during his 1st season. Ryan was an All-WCC first team selection his sophomore and senior year, and holds Gonzaga s all-time record for hits, doubles, and RBI s for a career. He graduated with a Bachelor s degree in Sport Management with a minor in Marketing.

After playing collegiately, Ryan was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 25th round of the 2009 draft.
